Ready to live the dream? Then let’s get stuck in…
Hello & Welcome to today’s episode of Dream Business Dream Life.
Today I want to talk about that stuck, frustrating space where your business is technically working but it doesn’t feel like it’s working the way you thought it would.
Maybe you’re consistently making 5, 6, even £7000 months. People on the outside would say you’re doing amazing and they’re not wrong. But from the inside it feels like you’re constantly pushing a boulder uphill. You’re working so hard, and yet the needle isn’t moving the way you want it to.
And I want to start by saying this really clearly: You are not failing. You are not bad at what you do.
The reason you feel stuck has nothing to do with your talent or your worth. What’s happening is you’ve hit an invisible ceiling. And today, I’m going to walk you through what that is, why it’s there, and what you can start doing to break through it.
Let’s paint a picture, because I know this will sound familiar.
You wake up in the morning, open your laptop, and there’s a mix of excitement and dread. You’re grateful for the clients you have, grateful that your business is bringing in income… but it feels like the whole thing is being held together with sticky tape.
Your schedule is full, but your brain is fuller. You’re juggling content, client delivery, admin, marketing, sales calls, maybe even a launch. There’s no real rhythm you’re just reacting to whatever feels most urgent that day.
And while you’re working harder than ever, the results haven’t really changed. You’re still hovering around that £5-7000 mark month after month. Sometimes you go a little over, sometimes a little under, but overall… it feels like you’ve hit a ceiling.
And the worst part is you start questioning yourself. Am I missing something? Am I not cut out to go beyond this? Is this as good as it gets?
This is such a common experience and yet it’s the part of entrepreneurship that no one talks about enough. That invisible ceiling where you’ve built a solid foundation, but it feels impossibly hard to break through to the next level.
It’s not impossible…
So let’s talk about why it happens.
It’s usually one of these three things and more often than not, it’s a mix of them all
First up - You’re running a “starter business” with advanced goals.
When you first start out, winging it is your superpower. You do a bit of everything, you test things, you hustle, you piece it together as you go. And that’s actually what helps you get off the ground.
But the problem is the systems, the habits, the ways of working that got you to £5000 months won’t get you to £10000 months and beyond. At some point, the very things that helped you start actually hold you back from growing.
Next - You’re doing it all on your own.
At this stage, a lot of business owners are still doing everything…they are still the CEO, the marketer, the sales team, the coach, the admin assistant, the social media manager, the tech support. And you can only stretch yourself so far. You’ve simply maxed out your own time and energy.
And I want you to hear this really loud and clear…that’s not weakness. That’s not a lack of discipline. That’s a normal ceiling every business owner eventually hits.
And finally you don’t have clarity on what really moves the needle.
This is a big one. Because when you’re at this level, it’s so easy to get caught up in shiny objects. A new funnel, a new strategy, a new platform, a new coach promising the magic sauce. And it’s tempting, because when you feel stuck, of course you’re looking for the thing that will finally get you unstuck.
But what usually happens is you spread yourself thinner and thinner. You’re doing a little bit of everything but not really going deep on the few things that actually bring you clients and cash.
So those are the three main reasons the invisible ceiling exists. And once you see that, you can start to shift it.
Can you recognise yourself in there anywhere?
Lets find out shall we…here’s what I want you to do this week. It’s super simple, but it’s super powerful:
First take an honest look at your business and ask yourself: Am I still running this like a scrappy beginner, or am I leading it like a CEO? There’s no judgment either way…this is just about awareness. You can’t fix something if you are not honest that it is a thing so awareness is key.
Then I want you to write down the top three things that actually generate clients and income for you. Not the things that look good on Instagram, not the busywork that eats up your time. The things that actually bring money in the door.
And then, ask yourself: Am I giving these three things my best energy? Or are they competing with 20 other things on my plate?
This is where clarity begins. Clarity is what cuts through the noise. And alignment which we’ll talk about more in the coming weeks is about choosing to focus on what works for you.
So I want to leave you with this: If you’re feeling like it’s really hard right now, if you’re wondering why all your effort isn’t paying off, please know this is not the end of the road. It’s just a growth edge.
You’ve outgrown the way you’ve been doing things, and you’re being invited into a new level of clarity and structure. That’s actually a really exciting thing…even if it feels uncomfortable in the moment.
Your breakthrough isn’t about working harder. It’s about working differently. It’s about focusing, aligning, and building a business that feels lighter and more sustainable… not a business that feels heavier.
What got you here won’t get you there.
Now I’d love to hear from you on this. What feels like the hardest part of being stuck at your current level? Come find me on Instagram at iamemmahine send me a DM, and let’s talk about it.
You don’t have to figure this out alone. And I promise you are closer than you think.
Thank you for listening; see you next time.
