E68: Courage Over Comfort: Why Growth Starts with Bold Moves
In this empowering episode of Dream Business Dream Life, we dive deep into what it really takes to build the business and life you dream of. Emma speaks candidly about ambition, action, and the often uncomfortable truth that growth doesn’t come from staying in your comfort zone. With her signature mix of softness and straight talk (or what her clients call a “kick up the bum sent with love”), she reminds us that being bold, messy, and imperfect is not just allowed...it’s required.
You’ll hear real stories, honest reflections, and a heartfelt call to stop waiting until you’re “ready” and start moving because the dream doesn’t build itself. From investing before it feels logical to showing up when it’s hard, this episode is a loving push to go all in on yourself and your vision.
💡 Key Takeaway
Discomfort isn’t a red flag...it’s often a green light.
True growth happens when you choose courage over comfort, take imperfect action, and build your dream business before you feel fully ready.

Hello & Welcome to today’s episode of Dream Business Dream Life.
Today we are diving into something that I know will hit home for so many of you…
We’re talking about being ambitious, being willing to take bold action, and most importantly getting uncomfortable.
Now, I want this to be a soft conversation, a loving one as that is how I roll. But I also want it to be a powerful one…because my soft approach does not mean I am not here to crack the whip to make things happen. I am here for that too…ask any of my clients…it is lovingly called a ‘kick up the bum sent with love’
I truly believe that if you’re here, you’re in my world and your’re listening to this you want more than just to dream of the business and life you love you want to actually build it.
Being ambitious is beautiful. It’s expansive. It’s magnetic.
But ambition on its own is just a spark. If you want to turn that spark into a fire; into a living, breathing, thriving business you’ve got to be willing to act.
And not just when it’s easy. Not just when you feel inspired or when things are going well. But especially when things feel uncertain, wobbly, or scary.
Ambition is the dream. Action is the vehicle. The thing that brings that dream to life.
I want you to hold the vision. Always. But I also want you to move. I want you to be OK with putting yourself in situations where you don’t feel 100% ready… yet you show up anyway.
We’re so conditioned to believe that discomfort is a red flag.
But often? It’s actually the green light. It’s the sign that you’re growing, stretching and stepping into something new.
Yes it is scary but it is the only way to grow.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to sit with the fear of ‘What if this doesn’t work?’ Launching something new… hiring the next team member… raising my prices… investing in myself before it felt logical…
And let me be honest with you. There are still moments where I think, “Emma, what on earth are you doing?”
I remember when I invested in my first ever mentor, it felt so out of reach at the time. I was terrified. It didn’t make logical sense on paper, but my gut knew it was time. And honestly? That one decision created a ripple effect I couldn’t have planned for. I would probably have given up had I not backed myself as back then I really lacked self belief.
But every single leap, even the messy ones, has moved me closer to the business and the life I truly want. Not just the money. Not just the growth. But the peace. The freedom. The joy.
And yes sometimes that meant working really hard, especially at the start or in the middle of a big launch. It meant early mornings, late nights, making decisions that others might not understand.
But that’s the trade-off I was willing to make for the life I have now.
This is something I want to really get across to you today…Loving your business doesn’t mean it’s always easy.
There are days I wake up and feel totally in flow things are working, clients are happy, the ideas are pouring in. And there are other days I question everything. That’s normal. Loving your business doesn’t mean you love every single moment. It means you stay devoted even when it’s hard
You can be deeply aligned with your purpose, love your offers, love your clients, love the impact you're making…and still need to work hard sometimes. Especially in seasons of growth or reinvention.
It’s not one or the other
We need to stop selling the idea that ease means no effort. Ease, to me, is about working in alignment. Working in flow. Working with intention.
But yes you still need to work. You still need to show up. You still need to have the difficult conversations, stretch yourself, and take risks.
Building a business you love means building your capacity to lead it.
And that growth will ask you to evolve, that growth will ask you to get uncomfortable and to push yourself that little bit harder at times.
So I want to leave you with this today:
Where in your business are you waiting to feel ready? Is it that offer you keep thinking about launching, but haven’t spoken about yet? Is it that idea you’re waiting to perfect before sharing? That conversation you know you need to have, but you keep pushing to next week? Where are you hoping the path will become easier before you just move? Just do something to move you forwards.
What if, instead, you let today be the day you choose courage over comfort? Let it be messy. Let it be imperfect. But let it happen.
You don’t need to have all the answers, you just need to be willing to take the first step. Then the next one. And then the next.
You can do this with heart. You can do this your way. But you have to do it.
Because your dream business and your dream life. They don’t just arrive. You have to build them.
Imagine waking up knowing you’re doing work you love, with people you love, being paid beautifully for it… and still having the time and space to live. That doesn’t come from playing small. It comes from showing up boldly, again and again
And guess what I’m here, cheering you on every single step of the way.
Until next time stay bold, stay heart-led, and keep building the life and business you know you’re meant for.
Thank you for listening; see you next time.
